sixdots GmbH, the company behind rapid.art, was founded by Steffen Satrapa and is a software development company with a special focus on photos and personalized print products.

Rapid-Collage
With Rapid-Collage, you can easily create photo collages right in your browser. A wide selection of beautifully designed templates—from numbers and letters to hearts and grid patterns—is available and can be customized to your liking.
Rapid-Mosaic
Rapid-Mosaic lets you create photo mosaic images where many small photos blend into one large overall image. The software automatically sets all parameters and offers various mosaic styles that can be ordered directly in the web shop.
Rapid-Map
With Rapid-Map, you can design personalized city maps and order them as a print product. Users can enter an address, customize the design and colors, and add personal text to create unique and meaningful maps.
Our Story
For more than 20 years, we have been part of the internet’s evolution — from the early days of digital photography to today’s smartphone-driven trends. These are the key milestones of our journey:

2004Foto-Mosaik (freeware)
It all started with the free Foto-Mosaik software, which made it possible for the first time to create impressive photo mosaics in no time at all. A photo mosaic is made up of many small individual images that blend into one large overall picture when viewed from a distance.

2011Foto-Mosaik-Edda
Foto-Mosaik-Edda followed as a complete reimplementation — 64-bit, multicore-capable, and expanded with special mosaic styles such as parquet or chaos. In addition to the free version, there was now also a Professional edition with an expanded feature set.

2014Rapid-Mosaik
Rapid-Mosaik used the same algorithms but made creation much easier: all parameters were set automatically, you could choose from several versions at the end, and order your preferred photo mosaic directly as a printed product in the webshop. Since then, we have worked closely with a local, family-run premium print shop.

2018Rapid-Mosaik Online
With the online version of Rapid-Mosaik, installation software became a web app: upload images, have them processed on the server, choose a version, and place your order — conveniently from your smartphone as well. It reflected a broader shift away from pure software toward web-based and mobile applications.

2020Rapid-Collage
Rapid-Collage expanded our offering with an editor that makes it easy to design photo collages directly in the browser. Numerous lovingly crafted templates — from numbers and letters to hearts and grid patterns — can be customized with text, backgrounds, and effects.

2022sixdots GmbH
The sole proprietorship became sixdots GmbH. By taking over Foto-Mosaik-Edda, Rapid-Mosaik, and Rapid-Collage, we laid the foundation for new opportunities and created room for further projects.

2023Rapid-Map
Rapid-Map added personalized city maps and coordinate posters to our range: enter an address, choose the map section, and customize the design, colors, text, and markers — available as a printed product or digital download. Ideal as a gift for moves, anniversaries, or travel memories.

2024rapid.art
Finally, we brought all our products — Rapid-Collage, Rapid-Mosaic, and Rapid-Map — together under the umbrella brand rapid.art for a consistent and even better experience.

2025Internationalization
We translated rapid.art from German into five additional languages — English, French, Italian, Dutch, and Spanish — and launched our shops in numerous countries and regions: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
